Hi Everyone..
I have been trying without success to edit the smcflasher.efi file. for my mac pro 1.1 2.1 upgrade.
first i open the file with hexedit release 2.22.
then i use "Find" go to address 0x1797 then insert the 5 bytes.
"Find" go to address 0x17AC then insert 9 bytes.
Then save............When i look at its md5 sum it is never as described below.
Quote: If you edited the file properly, its md5 sum should now be 39c07aa136b49d0046199b2c35caa2ef.
I really need to do this upgrade as i have fan problems, if anyone can help i would be very gratefull.
Thanks Montyboy
If anyone has the modifyed smcflasher.efi that would be great........

You have to replace the bytes, not insert!

I have a mid 2012 15inch macbook pro 9,1. I was trying to use this smcflasher to just reset the smc, yes I have tried all the usual ways to reset the smc but the time and calendar never changer so I know it hasn't taken place. I use used the flasher posted here and tells me its in the wrong Appmode code and it freezes up. Its probably understandable since I suppose this flasher was made for much older macs. So I pullled the flash from the smcupdate from apple, it still tells me wrong appmode code but it doesnt freeze up. I would suspect I'd have to hex edit the hardware protection out of this flasher.
1) problem is this version is a lot bigger and are the protections in the same areas
2) i followed directions on another thread and attempted changing the values once I attempted to save it hexedit gave me an error that it couldnt save it.
