I also get a grey screen sometimes, but after I reset the computer it works again. I am triple booting with Windows 8 and Linux Mint, it seems that every time I used one of these and then boot into OSX, I am getting a grey screen. I am not sure why this happens, maybe someone can help me with this?

I use DVI.

What I did: I updated from 10.9 to 10.9.3, I removed all the graphic driver kext that were already installed, then I installed the one from this thread. I didn't change any configuration. I ran Multibeast after this, using the EasyBeast configuration.

Boot flags I used:
GraphicsEnabler=No
npci=0x3000 (Not sure if necessary, works without it too or with 0x2000)
PCIRootUID=0 (Again, not sure if really necessary)

Thanks, I'm gonna try this way too on the weekend Smiley

On another note the flickering and grey screen is unresponsive. Not sure what I am doing wrong here considering others have gotten it to work.

Wouldn't it have been better to start a new thread rather than post on the end of a slow thread about totally different hardware?

Some information on what you have done in trying to get it working would probably be useful too.

Although if you have just any radeon 7xxx RX XXX you still can help testing this as they all use same 3d driver.

I had assumed the 7790 which uses the same drivers would be allowed. Fresh install of Mavericks, removed previous Grafix and reinstalled this package separately. Every darned boot flag I could think of. Not to mention 2 people have been posting about the 7790 in the previous posts before mine. It stalls at a grey screen, keyboard is unresponsive. I can boot it with -x and when I do there is a constant flickering that can be stopped by fbrotate or similiar things.

Hi all, this if my first post and i want to explain how to install a r9 290 (non x ) with mavericks 10.9.4.
I have installed the pkg provided by netkas, then i've copied the kext amd8000 and amdx4000 to desktop, i've edited the kext with my dev-id, then reinstalled it with kext utility. Then rebooted with GraphicsEnabler=Yes.
The exact model is r9 290 tri-x ( sapphire ).
Hope this is useful.

I have a Sapphire R9 290 (non-x) and I am using chameleon. I tried both bootloaders and cannot get the video driver working properly. It displays at 1080p, but only shows up as an ATI card with 7MB VRAM. and says no kext loaded. Anybody have any ideas?

I did load the 8000 and 4000 kext with my dev id edits.

Not a lot of folks playing around with 10.9 any more.

The support for this card came and went, and thus so did interest.
