Hi all,

Just want to share what I have discovered! May help someone else!

I tried to flash an ASUS HD5870 the other day & came up with a error like this!

This is because some HD5870 ROMS are locked to prevent flashing!

Use this command prior to flashing to unlock the rom...

atiflash -unlockrom 0

In my experience, asus cards must be avoided. They have some fancy design and ROMs (with additional bits of data just near the end of the BIOS section).

I also have a ASUS 5870. I saved the Bios from the card successfully. But with the command in the terminal i get this error:

dd: bs must be between 1 and 9223372036854775807

Can i solve this problem by unlocking the Bios or do i have an other problem?
