Hi there

I am writing this because i think it can be useful to someone some people want to use PC_EFI but, would rather not use GPT because Windows XP for example wouldn't install on it.

I was using vista, and OSX86 on my laptop, but Vista wasn't of practic use so i would rather prefer to have XP installed.

So let's start from a clean instalation.

Make a MBR Partition Table, with Windows XP create a Partition for Windows XP and another not formated leave for later install OSX86.

Install Windows XP.

After Windows XP install, use ToH Leopard DVD and proceed with the instalation.

Make sure you have USB hardisk, with pc_efiv8.
After instalation finish boot from the DVD again,

So resuming on disk we have now
/dev/disk0s0 Windows XP installed
/dev/disk0s1 Mac OS X installed (Not booting)

Utilities Menu, open a Terminal , Consider X=0, and Y=1 on this case the target OSX partition.

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX
fdisk: 1> update
Machine code updated.
fdisk:*1> f Y (Replace Y with partition number where Mac OS is installed)
Partition 1 marked active.
fdisk:*1> w
Device could not be accessed exclusively.
A reboot will be needed for changes to take effect. OK? [n] y
Writing MBR at offset 0.
fdisk: 1> q

Now using the boot1h and boot0 present on ToH DVD.(unmount the devices partitions)

dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1
dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1

Using the boot present on PC_EFI v8 package.

cd /Volumes/NAMEVOLUME/pc_efi_v80/
startupfiletool -v /dev/rdiskXsY ./boot_v8

Let's bless it:

bless -device /dev/diskXsY -setBoot –verbose

This is Worked for me and it's my way to have Windows XP (which dosen't support GPT and OSX with EFI).

Hope this helped

More news,

After Installing NTFS-3G, and vmware fusion detected my windows xp installation as a boot camp and configured it auto!
