Newegg has the Sapphire 7950 Mac Edition for $480 in stock. That is about a $200 premium over the cost of a PC 7950. I wouldn't mind paying extra for a Mac version but $200 seems like financial sodomy. Sadly I'm still tempted to pull the trigger. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202027

Does it work on a Mac Pro 1, 1? I am currently on the 6870 and would love the upgrade.

Well, it needs 10.8.3 and mountain lion doesn't support 1,1 or 1,2...officially.

I wonder why the card is compatible only in Mac Pro 5,1 (2010) an later but not in 4,1 (2009)?

Can you clarify on what it is you will be clarifying? Will it be whether this card works on the Mac pro 1,1, or whether it works on Mac pros 4,1 (as per the other gentlemans question)? Both?

YEY. I will order one now. For my Mac pro 1,1 will I need the Mac edition, or can I use a of one and "flash" it? Lastly, will I NEED to update to mountain lion? I'm on Lion with a 6870. Thanks

One thing that is baffling me. They list min system requirement as 10.7.5 or 10.8.2. As we know, neither has 7000 series kexts. Is that just a goof on their part or does this card come with newer ati kexts for 10.7.5? It could open door to macs that cannot run 10.8.3 if we got our hands on such kexts if they exist.

Disc in box has 10.7.5 drivers but I have had poor luck with them so far.
Also 10.8.2 drivers.

So, i've noticed something with my official card after using it a while. I see a lot of flicker on very top and bottom edge of screen, like a random flash of lines in it from time to time on desktop
not sure how else to explain it. i'm hoping it's just a driver issue. I have checked to ensure card is staying cool and fan is working, it's not that. However the flicker is really annoying. it's not constant it's periodic.

to make matters worse, found another fatal bug in card. it seems to cause deadlocks if you use OS X's screen shot feature
command-shift-4 followed by hitting spacebar on a window or something, this instantly deadlocked the screen and made it impossible to exit the screen shot interface and forced a hard reboot. between that and flicker, i wonder if i can convince newegg to take it back, if not, if i can rant to sapphire about the issues it seems to have.

My non-Mac Sapphire 7950 3Gb works fine with screenshots. Just tried now.
I do get occasional artifacting in Skyrim but have not been able to pin it down to any one area or circumstance. It affects different areas of the screen and is too fast to observe. It may just be the graphics options I have chosen or a lighting mod however. I will keep an eye on it.
