Guys, upon flashing a 8800gt I get ID mismatch message? Is it normal? do you recommend a forceflash or this information should not appear during this procedure?

you need to pay more attention
what is the exact message?
If the device id mismatches, usually bad
if subsystem id mismatches, usually not a problem if you know rom will work on card

thanks for the quick reply I got Adapter PCI Device 0611, firmware PCI device 0602 2 warnings: image PCI subsystem ID does not mach adapter PCI subsystem ID Firmware image board ID does not match adapter board ID (9021 vs 9018)
Cards seem to be identicall visually
If thats not a big problem and its worth a try what is the command to force flash?

I've flashed about 5 evga 8800gt cards recently with a Mac Pro 1,1 on Yosemite. They all have the EFI32 bios now and work great in Mac Pro' 1,1 and 2,1.. But yesterday I tried to flashed one in a Mac Pro 5,1. I used the EFI64 bios because my friend wanted to use this card in his Mac Pro 3,1. But now the card is completely dead. It doesn't even show up in nvflash. Any idea's?

Perhaps not enough room in the flashrom. You should try to flash the original rom, either with a second card (no nvidia, if possible) or blindflash under DOS with batchfile (works well in normal pc, no mac).
Pay attention before flashing that the rom is big enough. Most cards with reference-design (most ones have a green pcb) and 8800gts will work, but avoid all models with 640MB VRAM.

Thanks for the reply. Is blind flash possible if nvflash states there is no nvidia card in the computer? Why can't I flash on a Mac? If I pull the osx drive, the Mac Pro wil boot directly into Windows.

I had a similar case: I tried different versions of nvflash, only one worked. But i did it under DOS-environment, which is the safest way.
For Macs i use FreeDOS from cdrom. External volumes aren't recognized, so i used a DOS-partition on internal drive or IDE-HDD in the optical drive-bay (only MP 1.1 to 3.1!).

Took the time to investigate further today but neither in OSX or under DOS is my card visible. So NVFLASH says there nothing to flash, I think the card is broke now. Or is there another way to flash this card?

Hey, i had a similar problem a few days ago, i had to connect 2 pins of the eeprom to get it going again. Connect CE# (Pin 1 - the pin with the dot) and Pin 4 (GND) on the cards eeprom while booting up. Your card should be found afterwards and should be flashable afterwards. Take a look here, it says pin 4 and 5, but pin 1 and 4 are the right ones. http://netkas.org/?p=1182

Was it hard to find the eeprom in the card?

There are 4 Mac 8800GT roms. For EFI32 there is a 602 and a 611 device id rom. Same with EFI64. So, you need the one for device id 611.
