hello guys

i ha ve a prob which i'm trying to solve for some time.
i have x1950xtx on 10.5.2 kalyway. its a default install.

but while the display is hardware accelerated and quartz works, my gpu fan is working 100% and making lots
of noise. does anyone know how to fix this. been reading insanlymac but to no avail.

done some editing in my natit.kext replacing ATY, Alopias with ATY PrionaceB. It fixes the noise but my display is then totally garbled.

Does anybody have a solution ?

I also have a fan noise problem, although slightly different. I have Nvidia 7900 GS 256Mb in a gigabyte p35 ds3 totally vanilla and everything working (a wonderful iatkos install!). GPU fan noise is at the minimun level, inaudible, after initial boot but after sleep-wake cycle it pumps up to medium speed and stays there. Very annoying!
I have not been able to solve it even after 10.5.2 + graphic update and Gfx string in plist (no nvinject whatsoever).

Any ideas welcome.

It is an old problem from Tiger.
When OSX boot in GUI and video card will be in HIGH LOADING mode.
Lowing chip's Mhz of video card will not solve this problem completely.
Silent video card without fan and playing 3D game meant to be got an overheated crash.
I have no idea to solve this problem until now.
