Flash a MacPro 2010 with a 2012 Bios - Would that work?

Hi,

The title says it... out of curiosity... I want to flash the Bios chip from my 2010 MacPro with a Bios dump from a 2012 that I've found online.
Would that work?

I know there are no improvements whatsoever in the specs but I would be happy to see "Mac Pro 2012" showing up in "About this Mac".

The firmware of all 5,1 Mac Pros is the same.

It's the serial number that makes the About This Mac say that a Mac Pro is 2009/2010/2012. With 2009 and 2010, About This Mac gets the 3 last digits of the serial, queries an Apple server and then return the year. With 2012 on wards, it's the 4 last digits of the serial.

If you flash a dump from another Mac, you will loose iCloud/iMessage/Facetime access, for your Mac and the Mac you cloned. Do not do this.
