Hi community I have a MacPRO 5,1 with: - ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB - NVIDIA NVS 510 2047 Mo the firmware version are MP51.0089.B00
at the upgrade to Mojave the Mac Pro still crashes at system loading before the login
I removed the ATI card and the computer starts without worry. only since the NVS is not EFI. I do not see the boot loading and I can't which another boot volumes
i have see this articles: Install macOS 10.14 Mojave on Mac Pro (Mid 2010) and Mac Pro (Mid 2012) - Apple Support
i will know if the ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB is compatible with METAL
I have see some rumour about 10.14.1 will change a little bit my problem. Can someone tell me if I need to change my graphics card or not
In a word - Yes! Your card is NOT metal compatible! Lou

yeah, gotta be 7xxx or later AMD
funny thing is Apple keeps giving the nvidia folks the heave-ho, yet much older nvidia cards have metal support

I have both a Nvidia GTX 780 and a Radeon 7970. Since the release of Mojave, the 7970 blows the GTX 780 away with the few games I have played. Borderlands 2 is on average 5 to 10 frames faster. Fortnite (a Metal rendered game from what I've read) works flawlessly on the 7970, while it stutters like crazy and is pretty much unplayable with the GTX 780. I'm under the impression that even if Nvidia were to get their web driver working again, performance may still suffer greatly.

Crazy how some people are so eager to upgrade.
My cMP ran Mavericks until recently and I was terrified to upgrade to Yosemite.. I had to for some reason, I don't regret it I suppose but I was worried about breaking a lot of things, especially as an audio producer I have a lot of legacy stuff. Heck, I still have a dualg5 I want to setup for leggyaudio stuff.

Sadly more and more cutomers are switching to AMD or even Windows 10 PC's! It's time to add boot screens to the latest AMD cards.

MacPro3,1. macOS Mojave works normally. GTX 680 supported perfectly with two displays (DP + DVI): GTX 980 not supported still yet... Only one display recognized. On the developers forum, guys says that Web Drivers for Mojave will never be released...

Recently installed Mojave in my Mac pro 5.1 tower GPU is a GTX 460. I have several drives with earlier versions of OSX El Cap, Mavericks etc. According the many different things I have read you cannot have two video cards installed while running Mojave. Along with the GTX 640 I also have a GT120 in the tower which is not tethered to any monitor. When I boot into EL Capitan and later on boot to Mojave the dock vanishes along with all the icons for the internal drives. Selected View options does nothing as the drive options are checked off. The entire desk top appears darker and more pixelated. I found that rebooting and zapping the PRAM fixes theses issues until a boot into an earlier OS. Is this a viable work around zapping the PRAM every time I boot into Mojave or could this create more problems down the road. Needless to say I would like to keep the GT120 in the tower in case I need recover a drive etc. Any insights here
