Just got a reply from Nvidia yesterday.

Confirmed that Fermi can be used with Pascal in Windows 10 up to driver version 391.35.

So, a single slot flashed Fermi card can easily be the best GT120 replacement in a dual boot 10.14 and Windows 10 setup.

h98, can you have the guy whinging about 1080Ti power email me? I have no (0) recent emails about power issues with 1080Ti so have no idea who he is.

BTW, my recent MVC blog post with image of Titan-X with single power cable connected was due to some moron writing me that his Titan-X was defective since it wouldn't run with just one cable hooked up.

Yup 087, same as in HS 10.13.5 installer.

10.14 introduces GPU Family 2 V1. It also introduces Family 1 V4

https://developer.apple.com/documentation/metal/mtlfeatureset
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/metal/mtlfeatureset/macos_gpufamily2_v1

What gpus fall under Family 2 is unknown yet. I hope nivida can get 9xx and 10x0 in there though through web driver. No doubt some Metal features will be Family 2 exclusive

https://developer.apple.com/metal/Metal-Feature-Set-Tables.pdf is not yet updated sadly, still waiting for it to show Graphics2 V1 and Graphics1 V4 feature sets.

Figuring out features that will now require Family 2+ and what cards fall under Family 2 will be important selling points for certain GPUs going forward.

Family 1 V4 will be all same Metal GPUs that have been supported by Metal since 10.11 with likely some new exclusive to Family 2+ features flipped off. You'll probably still be able to run 10.14 with any ole Metal GPU, but you'll start running into things ya can't do. Reminds me of days of QE enabled GPUs vs not, etc Smiley.

FWIW I run AMD's RX 580 and HD 7950 (flashed EFI) and surprisingly both identify as GPU Family 2 V1, even the minimal Metal 7950 ... (Running pb1)

Yes, but it is obvious that Apple likes to cut corners in System Profiler.

Note that many cards (AMD cards) now reports PCIE 3 speeds while in PCIE 2 machine.

Don't rely on that, macOS is really bad on telling the truth especially when running multi GPU that's never shipped by Apple.

I can make my GT120 has METAL support when installed that with the 1080Ti. Obviously that's a wrong info.
