Is there any progress in getting 5GT/sec with a RX 580 ?

Spend some quality time with a Voltmeter.

More information would be helpful, Rominator.  Are we looking for a resistor like the well known 280 mod?  What values?  Is the metaphorical gold in-line with a certain component?  Just saying "use a Voltmeter" is like telling someone to find the wreck of the Endeavour by checking in the ocean.

Even if you don't give explicit instructions, give us a starting place, something to look for.  Not everybody is an electronics genius - some of us are just plain old hobbyists who want a little more bang from our buck.  Or better, give us some values and a testing method to determine when we're right.

My first Idea would be to look at other cards that have been unlocked with a voltmeter.  Maybe there is a pattern ?    I don't have any unlocked cards  to try this on though.

I think you need a normal card (e.g. normal PC version HD7950), and figure out the spec of the "R17" resistor. And try to fine out the "pattern".

And then try to figure out which resistor on the RX580 is that key resistor.

With a Mac Edition card, that resistor is already missing, you may lost some critical info.
