Apple modified Security Update 2019-002 this morning.  Why not change the designation, I do not know Huh  Anyway the new build no. is (17G6030).  The Driver anding in 123 no longer works.  The pulled 108 Driver is still working along with Cuda.

Why would you patch 108 to work on it instead of patching 223 the SAME way to work on it?

I literally did a one line terminal command and rebooted and was good to go. whatever 17G6030 fixed was important enough to push it to users who had 17G6029. often apple makes newer builds but only pushes them to people who don't have previous one. This one they pushed to EVERYONE.

^^^^The pulled 108 driver is NOT patched.  It has worked, as downloaded, on all iterations of HS 10.13.6.  And if I recall correctly it worked fine on 10.13.5.

Just have to say, nvidia's drivers on multiple displays are absolute crap. I'm one of those users who had a single display until this week and I must say, the code is spagetti and a disaster on macOS

1. Toggling 2nd display on or off has a chance to make both displays perma black/standby and be unusuable until hard reboot
2. Any of displays going into standby mode have a chance to get perma stuck that way until hard reboot.

As long as 2nd display remains off no issues.

Display one is hooked up to 1080ti Display Port. Display 2 is hooked up to 1080ti DVI (yes same card, single card configuration).

I don't know if driver just sucks balls at managing a DP and DVI at same time instead of dual DP, or what the problem is. All I know is when I google the problem it seems universal to windows and mac and ONLY on nvidia drivers.

It's a real shame nvidia makes best hardware but their drivers have been such a buggy disgrace for years now. Meanwhile AMD drivers probably more reliable but their cards are crap (their radeon 7 is an utter disgrace. A grossly overclocked vega that's STILL 8% slower than a STOCK 1080ti. an overclocked one? or a 2080ti, forget it, all while needing 50 more watts of power and able to heat a small village)

I want to find a working 2 display configuration but I don't want to do it with an inferior GPU that's going to turn my room into a loud sauna.

https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/387/WebDriver-387.10.10.10.40.127.pkg seems to have been released to address some serious bugs with metal rendering that were discovered by World of Warcraft patch 8.1.5. I've tested this driver and the 100% reproducible rendering issues that existed, are now gone.

They are still updating HS drivers but for Mojave nothing! Tiresome, very tiresome.

This new CUDA driver for high sierra references a new driver version in CUDA.framework's Info.plist:
Code:
<key>NVDAResmanVersions</key>
<dict>
<key>378.10.10.10.15</key>
<string>378.10.10.10.15</string>
<key>378.10.10.10.20</key>
<string>378.10.10.10.20</string>
<key>378.10.10.10.25</key>
<string>378.10.10.10.25</string>
<key>387.10.10.10</key>
<string>387.10.10.10</string>
<key>387.10.10.15</key>
<string>387.10.10.15</string>
<key>418.15.10</key>
<string>418.15.10</string>
</dict>

So... anyone knows how to get 418.15.10 for high sierra?  Wink

It's theorized that's the 10.14 driver that apple won't let them release. There is nothing stopping them from releasing High sierra drivers. They're still doing that plenty.

It's Also got a much newer hardware class too so it probably even supports RTX, cause I know nvidia was working on that as well.

I almost think them slipping that into cuda was their way of leaking to users "accidentally" to show us just how ready they are (and have been). Re-ignite users asking questions, so to speak. Nvidia will no doubt continue being silent cause they probably can't say anything about what's going on with apple, but user rumblings starting up again could once again remind apple that their cooperation is important to users who actually want to use best gpus on macOS.

The more radical theory is that it's a 10.15 driver and there will be a big unveiling at WWDC when they show new mac pro, that it'll support AMD and nvidia and that's the driver version with that support. I honestly lean more on above theory than this 2nd theory. I think we're about as likely to see nvidia on stage as we are to see steve jobs walk out and start presentation. A long gone era. But hey, if we do see nvidia on stage on monday, I'm going to be spending the entire event waiting for steve to pop out from behind curtains too.

Hate to say it, but AMD is still a good 2 and a half years behind nvidia on performance, constantly. In a GPU world that's an eternity.

Interesting theories, but the CUDA driver is for High Sierra, which according to my logic means the driver is also for High Sierra. About why it's not publicly out? I don't know.

Maybe if we could "guess" the exact version number, we could actually download it? As from some reason its not listed in gfe...

I already tried that, i nailed server with every possible version number request (over 1000) to try and find it Wink if it's on server, it's not at the standard name/path conventions of a public release, it'd probably be at some impossible to brute force url.

So far for the second theory. Nothing about nvidia in WWDC. New MacPro is modular, but comes with AMD.
