And I'm already getting reports of LOTS of trouble with this new driver.

Uhh....

Problems with older cards, such as maxwell?

As I indicated above, you MUST allow the extension to load.  If it doesn't load, you will have NO acceleration with an EFI card, and a BLACK screen with a non-EFI card.

Other than that, No issues with my MVC flashed GTX 1080.

I mean old driver is already a mess. it has SERIOUS bugs in it that can cause whole system to freeze/crash from even simplest of metal validation errors. Blizz has had to put fixes around now 4 major nvidia driver bugs that don't affect AMD/intel metal drivers.

I was hoping this driver release was a step in right direction in fixing those bugs (cause blizzard has been working with nvidia on reporting those serious issues). What you say about drivers stability actually being worse is concerning though.

Updated to new drivers. no black screens or any new issues I can see. I can't say whether or not they fixed some of the MTL issues since blizzards work arounds for all of them are present now, but I can say the driver isn't any worse, so it's a solid update for me.

I installed yesterday, on reboot I got a metal related crash.

Nothing in Security about driver but white dock says otherwise.

Cleared PRAM and installed again.

Now just white dock, no Metal notices. And jagged windows, etc. Didn't see any Nvidia extensions not loaded, nothing in Security.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, all good. And this time I DID get a "Allow from Nvidia" thing in Security.

But I have emails indicating I'm not only one with install issues. At least 4 already in under 24 hours.

Apple keeps adding hoops to jump through. At least Volta is in there.

I have had absolutely no negative incidents with the 108 driver.  For me, it's fast and stable Cheesy

no further metal hangs on older 105 driver. I'm also not only one. other players of WoW reporting that new 108 driver is just really unstable.

Previous driver was unstable too for a bit on wow, but blizzard has been adding fixes to WoWs Metal validation to make nvidia driver more stable here and there.

108 is just MORE unstable than 105 was.

105 was crashing/hanging when metal through validation errors. 108 is crashing even when there are no validation error. It's just crashing because WoW is open, no bigger reason then that. I've literally had xcode running MTL validation on wow when 108 crashed and unlike 105 driver which crashed do to validation errors in MSAA and human models. I haven't seen a validation error in wow in about a week now running tons of debugging, but wow makes 108 driver just explode usually within 30 to an hour with me, without fail.

I think if you don't play wow or fortnite, probably won't see the 108 issues for most part with metal. It takes a game with low level pipeline feeding to driver to trigger the issues last two drivers have had.

108 was pulled of by NVIDIA. I'm on 105 and it doesn't say there is anything newer right now.

Yes, but some noob users won't see the upgrade and that's a good thing.

it's an unstable driver (at least the metal renderer is), and they are probably investigating the reports (trust me, it's not just me). In meantime, they aren't seeding it anymore. Didn't pull file but control panel is pushing 105.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a 109 or something soon to correct the regression in Metal.
