I've been doing some tweaking and thinking. This is a big what if, and since this is a nice little side project on the R9 290X... I would like to try to see if I can revive this card. The card still display, but I narrow it down to bad VRAM.

Here's my logic... Can I not just disable the bad VRAM module and just run the card on 3GB instead of 4GB? When I say disable, I mean, cutting out the power to that certain bad VRAM module and tricking the card to think it isn't even there. Of course, using the Hawaii Bios Editor, is this not possible? If anyone can lend a helping hand or guide me in the right direction, that'll be awesome.

well, ROPs are tied to specific memory controlllers which are tied to specific memory chips
so you would need to disable 1/4 of rops to achieve you target, not sure if it's even possible. imho it's easier to resolder memory chip via some service
