So I was digging around in the kexts on my 2016 and noticed there is a GMUX entry for AMD4100. So this describes cutting from Intel to AMD GPU.

Tried looking on my 2015 MBA and the AMD4100 entry isn't there.

Turns out it isn't in 16B2555 but came into existence for 16B2657

May hold a clue

So its for new mbps with polaris graphics from amd.

AppleMuxControl.kext has info about every macbook with switchable graphics.

gmux is a little switch which controls which graphics card has access to connected display.

shouldn't be actual for egpu.

Also, Config3 in agdp.kext looks very similar to Config2 (which is for 5k imac), but adds disabling of igpu

So I guess new imacs are coming, which will have igpu framebuffer disabled at os level, but still igpu available for video encoding/decoding.
