I have a GTX 650 already in my MP 3,1 which I've upgraded various ways over the years (new procs, new SATA3 drive controller, new AC WiFi).
The card is ZOTAC AMP! GeForce GTX 650 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16  ZT-61003-10M
Does not appear to be a reference design as it has 2x HDMI and 2x DVI-D, looking to allow the 8800GT card to be retired from my machine and have this take over.

Would it be possible with a medium amount of effort to customize and flash a rom derived from a GTX 680 rom to this card to have boot screen support?

exact card is -> https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/gtx-650-amp
Vendor: 0x10de
Device ID: 0x0fc6

Semi bricking the card would not be the end of the world as I do have an external SPI programmer with an 8 pin clip (used for flashing custom BIOS on lenovo t440s), assuming this programmer is capable of read/write of the ROM used on the card.
And I do have a few other GFX cards to boot from (8800GT, HD5770, HD5450 - both ATI cards would be a pain as it is in machine in the office)

I've attached my stock GTX650 ROM along with some info from nvflash about the system.

I know that the GTX 680 can be flashed to work in your mac Pro 3,1. Maybe the GTX 680 Rom can be modified to work in your GTX 650.
