I recently bought a bizon box and am running a Zotac gtx 970 in it connected to a Mac Mini Late 2014 2.6ghz. In windows everything works
great. I can game and edit videos. But When I use it in OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 (15G1004) 4k video play back is laggy and choppy (I also tried it in OS X Sierra). I installed the proper Nvidia drivers and my system detects it as the primary gpu. What is weird is that I tested the same 4k video in windows and it plays back perfectly. I also tested it in OS X without the eGPU connected and just using the integrated graphics and it plays the 4k video perfectly. So I know its not my monitor or HDMI cable. Does anyone know how to fix this? Will getting the GTX 970 flashed help at all?

I imagine that you are yet another victim of the tech charlatan, Goalie.

Your screenshot shows you running at 1080P, so 4K video?

Yah I'm a film maker so I shoot my films in 4K and I'm trying to play back the footage. I just haven't had enough money to upgrade to a 4K display.

4K displays are peanuts now.

Go dog through your couch cushions and buy one.

4K on a 1080P ISNT 4K.

I thought I did.

Trying to play 4K on a 1080P display is silly.

Drop $300 and get a low end 4K, then see if you have an issue.

Ok but it plays in windows with the same monitor. And it plays on OS X with integrated graphics on the same monitor so it has to be something wrong with the Egpu in OS X. So before I drop 300 dollars on a new monitor I want to solve this problem. Do you know if flashing the card will have any effect? Or if there is some patch I can do to solve this?

This would be a great question for the Bison Box folks.

Did they include software with the Akitio box?
