Hi everybody,
Maybe someone can help. The app quits unexpectedly on me. Could this be because I am trying to run it on Leopard (10.5.8 ) ? Tried the obvious, reset SMC, PRAM and NVRAM. I have a MP1188Z.005C.B08.0707021221, which is in the patch files, do not know why it crashes...
Regards,
Robert

I just ran in to this issue trying to update two ultra-cheap MacPro1,1's I scored. I fumbled through the steps in this post
http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,1094.msg38659.html#msg38659
For both MacPro1,1's, following the quoted steps linked above, I got it to work. Both machines now report themselves as MacPro2,1's.

Hello,
I'm interested to upgrade a MacPro1,1 because they're already available around 60 Euro. I want to use the Low-PowerXeons L5420 (2.5 GHz) and L5430 (2.66 GHz). Are these supported? Both are Harpertown Quadcores with 12 MB L2-Cache and CPUID 1067A. Interesting is the TDP of just 50W (instad of 80 or more) and the cost: A Xeon L5420 is just under 10 Euro! The L5430 is much more expensive, even if it only has 133 MHz higher clock rate. But I have two of them, so I will use the L5430.
On my custom machines with Socket 775 + sticker mod I've exchanged all E-Xeons with L-Xeons and they're working great with OSx86. So they should be suitable for the Mac Pro, with less power consumption and less heat.
I've also read advices that it is best to use only six memory sticks (three on every board) because the processors just have three memory lines. To address more, the lines have to be multiplexed which makes them slower. I have a Supermicro server board which also uses the 5100 Nothbridge, and it only has six memory ports. Maybe they knew why.
Greets, naquaada.

Hi I have attempted to use the 2206-2207 firmware update tool, but i just get an error when it attempts to download the files to make the RAM disk. Is this now an outdated tool? Is there any other way i can do it.

Same here. Guess the download links are broken so the tool cannot reach the necessary files. Any workaround? I guess the links could be remapped to some other web server using the hosts file to mask the domain, but how to get to those files? And which files are needed anyway?
