Hey, Apple has just released a GPU update utility for the recent iMacs. I haven't looked at its content yet (am at work), but I thought it could be used to improve Zeus, if Cindori or another expert could look into it.  Smiley

Very interesting.

Has "Elodea" and "Hydrilla" roms. (3 different Hydrillas)

Also a ROM flashing kext and the flasher itself.

Quite likely that someone can make a 5870/6xxx flasher out of this. (and maybe some EFI ROms, though past iMac ROMs were EFI64 only)

Pity there are no Nvidia cards.

The NVFlash app doesn't see any of the Fermi cards since it is from the past, when Macs used Nvidia.

I have been crazy busy last few days so I won't have time to take these further apart until weekend.

Good news for ATI folks.

I don't think Cindori has a Mac Pro anymore, might be better if someone with one wrote the app.

btw rom u tried with a different rom yes? because flashing will abort if rom is identical.

    if anyone wants to test:
  • First make sure your card is Reference model (no special fan)
  • find or create a second working ROM for your card (maybe load your current ROM in RBE (radeon bios editor) and edit 1% on some fan setting, just to get different checksum)
  • make sure both roms work on your card (flash in windows) and note down checksums of them
  • head over to OSX and use modded Zeus version posted above, try flash with the ROM that is NOT on the card and see what happens.
  • Note down picture of card and model

  • Note down how many seconds flasher bumps in dock

if successful, compare checksums with those you noted
