NVidia 8600GT + 10.5.5 = B&W Squares!

Recently reinstalled my system, the GFX EFI string no longer works, and the screen just stays like in the attachment.

Any ideas?

Even better, in safe mode it works OK. I can set 1280x1024, screen is OK.  :blink:

10.5.4 worked just fine!

Managed to overcome this, however i still don't have QE/CI. Any idea?

if you use an nforce based chipset on your motherboard, you have to edit the nvidia.kexts
( resman, hal, geforce with the proper vendor and id)

as apple does not use nforce chipset the id numbers have an ending &0fff ( or similar) which indicates a group of id-numbers. and these number groups interfer in matching with the nforce chipset ( seem to have similar id´s) and causes crashes, weired performance and so on.
