I had a little bit of mouse skipping with my old skool razer mamba, but then I uninstalled the mamba driver and enabled USB Overdrive and it went away.  Pretty sure razer's driver is only for up to 10.6.

Somebody, try new ati drivers from 10.7.3 beta, u can find it on imzdl.com

with just x3000xxxxx.kext replaced + ATY_init , in (-v) -f mode, resulting a grey screen with a cursor.
now i'm replaced more kexts (ATIsupport,ATIframebuffer,ATI6000controller) and w/o ATY_init. And try now  Grin

edit: it gets worse.
replaced more kexts mentioned above, w/o ATY_init, gives out a NO QE/CI display with 1024*768 resolution.
in the same situation, but with ATY_init, it gives out a static-grey-background-black-strips-disco screen.

I tested those situations in 10.7.2 with kexts replaced. I don't know whether structure has changed in kernel or component etc., so hope somebody can install 10.7.3, i can't take that risk, i'm lazy to reinstall lol.

edit2: the first situation w/o ATY_init. Having the result that with ATY_init had.

Thank you for beta testing Wink May I ask you what's your videocard?
I don't have time to do tests at the moment but hopefully next week will be ok...

For now I didn't find the reason why itunes gives hiccups to my system, I just know that one week ago when I was still using a HD4890 (thanks to netkas's great exotic patch), there was no such problem. It's not that annoying, for now I just use "itunes" to add music to the library and "Ecoute" by PixiApps to play it without problems (it uses itunes library).
In the meantime I did try to remove Aty-init, launch itunes in 32bits mode, deactivate itunes plugins... It didn't change a thing. Perhaps it is due to my flashed card?  I didn't see anything specific in the console, all I can say is:
-from the moment I click on the itunes app icon to the first "hiccup" visible on vlc framerate (for a simple visual example, but again it interferes with the entire system), it takes 10 seconds. Then, the hiccups arrives every 4 to 5 seconds with same symptoms (video framerate, mouse/tablet skipping...)

on my i7 system, Lion 10.7.2 is installed on a C300 SSD drive (trim disabled). itunes library is on a synology DS210+ NAS, but it does the same if I chose a local library.

Ok initial test results..

Installed 10.7.3 over the top of 10.7.2 = no go, apple screen, blue screen back to apple screen but with a cursor...

Installed ATIRadeonX3000.kext from 10.7.2 patch over the top of the one installed by 10.7.3 and same result as above

Replaced ATIRadeonX3000.kext with the one from 10.7.3 to reset things and replaced the GLDriver.bundle from 10.7.3 with the latest modified one and Voila - back onto desktop and glview runs and works.

So preliminary findings are that only the patched gldriver.bundle is required with 10.7.3 - obviously more testing is needed as this was literally a ten minute test but looking better so far at least!

I wonder if anyone have tried those drivers with HD 6990 cards. I mean the chip on them are the same as 6970. Ofc with one gnu disabled.

I see that this method works for 5970.

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=230874

Will start dig into it myself, hope to get some nice use of my HD 6990 cards now when bitcoin mining sucks Smiley

YIPPI!!!

Got my HD6990 working perfect.

Did only add device id to ATI6000Controller.kext.

Using Chameleon r1700.... did add AtiConfig=gibba to bootup Smiley

Very interesting Shocked
May I ask you how you achieved that? Starting from a 10.7.2 update, you only modified ATI6000Controller.kext file by adding your 6990 Device ID (I thought it's 0x67181002 for 6970) and added Aticonfig=gibba to boot.plist? QE/CI working?

It was just a fast test i did...

But basically i did just use the Standard package found here (second page in this thread, packed up by andy), did add 0x671D1002 for 6990 in ati6000controller.kext. Used AtiConfig=Gibba or Duckweed with Chameleon r1700. And wola it worked AMD HD 69xx found with 2048 MB, didn't even need to disable second gpu. Everything seems to work well except DVDPlayer and if i start iTune(i guess its really quicktime) mouse becomes jumpy. Right now I've made a clean install of 10.7.2 and will do some more testing and try to refine and test different methods, will report my finds back later.

QE/CI did work.

I've been doing a few more tests on my hack with a 6970 under 10.7.3 beta with and without graphics enabler etc and it actually appears that using ATY_init turns in better results.

Under cinebench testing with graphicsenabler the results varied between 59 and 62 fps. Using ATY_Init the results were always in the 63 fps range. It's not a massive difference and hardly a thorough test but these results were consistent.

So I will be sticking with ATY_Init for the time being (every frame counts lol).
